For our social action project I worked at Springs Nottingham, which is a resource centre for people with mental disabilities, particularly autism. They’ve got some great facilities like a senses room, soft play area and a woodland area.
We cleared paths and made shelters in the woodland area, and we left our own mark by making raised flower beds and painting our own designs on them.
We were knackered by the end of it, it was quite intense, but I loved it. I genuinely think it was one of the best things I’ve ever done and I’ve met some genuinely nice people.
My team mentor actually signed me up to do NCS at a Fresher’s Fair at Harvey Hadden School. I signed up not really knowing what it was, but I’m really glad I did. It definitely pushed me to my limits and made me do things I wouldn’t necessarily have done on my own. I’m so thankful I’ve done it and I’ve met some incredible people. I’m quite sad it’s over now.
